How does r.Protect - Private Domain Name Registration work?
  Question

With r.Protect - Private Domain Name Registration how do I receive my legitimate email, mail and phone calls?

  Answer

Private Registration populates the public WHOIS listing for your domain name registration with alternate contact information:

  • Email Address - To help protect you from people who "mine" and sell the information in the WHOIS database, the email address listed in the WHOIS will use a random  and unique email address.  This email address will use the suffix "@domaindiscreet.com" and will change every 10 days. Email messages received at this address will be filtered for spam and forwarded to your designated email account.
  • Postal Address - To stop junk mail and protect the privacy of your home address, the postal address displayed in your WHOIS listing will be a PO Box address in care of DomainDiscreet.com. Certified and overnight mail will be forwarded to the Account Holder address of record.
  • Phone Number - To help prevent telemarketing, the phone number listed will be answered by Register.com's Customer Support, who will instruct the caller how to contact you via the email address or PO Box listed in the WHOIS.

Please note that Register.com's Private Domain Name Registration is not  a general mail forwarding service and you should not provide the contact information to third parties for the pupose of having such communications forwarded to you.
