  Question

How is a Transfer of Account Holder (Registrant) initiated for a Register.com domain name?

  Answer

The first step to initiating a Transfer of Account Holder (Registrant) is to log into Account Manager™ and click on the domain name you wish to have transferred to another Account Holder (Registrant).

Click on  View Registrant, Administrative Contact and Technical Contact;  this allows you to see all the domain name contacts, including Account Holder (Registrant) information.  Beneath the Registrant information are two links; the Edit link will allow you to change the contact information for the existing Account Holder, except the registrant name or company name.  The Transfer Registrant option permits you to transfer the domain name to another Account Holder's account.  If they don't have an account, the transfer process will allow them to create one.

Once you've clicked on the Transfer Registrant link, the next screen will prompt you to enter the new Account Holder's contact information, including First Name, Last Name, and Email address.  In addition, there's an optional Message field where you'll be able to enter a brief message to the new Account Holder.   From this point on, the Transfer of Registrant is the responsibility of the new Account Holder.  They'll receive an email, which will allow them to place the name in an existing account at Register.com, or create a new account for this domain name.  Once the transfer is complete, the domain name will no longer be listed in your account.

Please note that any services associated with the domain name being transferred will be automatically disabled, and will not be transferred with the domain name.

If the Transfer Registrant link is not located beneath the contact, or if you're transferring the Registrant of a .ca, .de or .fm domain name, please  click here.

If you do not wish to initiate a transfer of Registrant yourself, Register.com can complete the transfer for a fee of $35 per domain name. If you are transferring multiple domain names, please call our customer service for special pricing. For further information please click here.

*Note: The online transfer of account holder (Registrant) process can only be used to transfer Registrant for .com, .net, .org, .biz, .info, .name, .cc, .tv, .us, .ws, .co.nz, .org.nz and .net.nz domain names that have Register.com listed as the Registrar.

Transfer of Registrant is NOT AVAILABLE through Register.com for the following domain name extensions.  You'll need to contact the appropriate Registry to proceed:
