  Question

How do I change my Domain Alias?

  Answer

Access to some of the technical settings for your account depends on whether or not you are using Register.com's Domain Name System Servers (DNS Servers).

If you use Register.com's DNS Servers, then you can modify the Domain Alias information online by logging into your Account Manager and selecting the domain name you wish to make the changes to from the main menu. Click on the link "Edit Domain Alias (CNAME)" from the ADVANCED TECHNICAL SETTINGS menu.

The edit screen will open and you may then click the appropriate button to edit, add or delete Alias (CName) for your domain name, which will generate an editable list of all of the Domain Aliases (CNames) associated with the domain name.  Once the necessary changes are made, click Continue to apply them.  Click Continue again to confirm the changes.

You have the option of directing your domain name towards the desired Alias (CName). In addition, you can direct multiple subdomains.

Example:
www.exampledomainname.com points to http://www.internetpage.com
shop
.exampledomainname.com points to http://www.internetpage.com

If you do NOT use Register.com's DNS Servers, then you need to contact the DNS Server Administrators of the Internet Service Provider, (ISP) or Web hosting company that manages the DNS Servers currently listed for your account.
